Born in 1964, grew up in Iran and Egypt. Studied Law at the University of Konstanz, joined the Federal Foreign Service in 1991. Assignments in Sanaa, Tehran, Geneva, Beirut, and lastly in New York as Legal Adviser of the German Mission to the U.N. during Germany’s recent tenure on the UN Security Council (2011-2012). From 2013 to 2015 Head of the Division for international Human Rights Protection in the Federal Foreign Office. Since September 1st, 2015 Martin Huth is heading the German Embassy in Beirut.
Ambassador Huth speaks English, French, Arabic and Farsi. He has published books and articles on ancient numismatics. He is married to political scientist Anahid Hanounik-Huth. The couple has two sons.
