On 28 June German Osnabrück Youth Choir gave a joint concert together with Lebanese Antonine University Choir and the renowned Syrian musicians Kinan Azmeh (Clarinet) and Dima Orsho (Vocals) accompanied by Andreas Müller (Electric Bass) at AUB concert hall. The overwhelming performance combining traditional eastern and western church music with modern improvisations marked the starting point for the Global Week for Syria which also includes conference panels and lectures held at the American University of Beirut.
Deputy Ambassador Carsten Meyer-Wiefhausen delivered greetings on behalf of the German Embassy, as the Global Week for Syria is inter alia co-financed by Germany. Prior to the Global Week for Syria, the 13. Morgenland Festival had taken place in Osnabrück with a focus on Lebanese Music.
Another opportunity to listen to Osnabrück Youth Choir’s program will be on Friday, 30 June at Safadi Cutural Center in Tripoli at 7 p.m. together with Sonbola Choir.
