The Embassy celebrated the Day of German Unity

On the occasion of the German National Day on October 3rd, Ambassador Martin Huth and his wife Anahid Hanounik-Huth, welcomed Lebanese and international partners and friends of Germany to a reception at Beirut Yacht Club in Zaytunay Bay. Germany commemorates on this day the overcoming of the county’s separation and celebrates its reunification in 1990.

Guests of honour were the Minister of Labour Sejaan Azzi, representing Prime Minister Tammam Salam, Mohamad Qabbani, Member of Parliament, representing the Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri, as well as the Minister of Energy and Water, Arthur Nazarian. Numerous representatives of politics, the diplomatic corps, military, religious dignitaries and representatives of business, culture, media and science followed the invitation.

The Ambassador stressed the good bilateral relations between the two countries and underlined the importance of a strong and functional Lebanon with regard to the country’s crucial presidential election. Huth said, that during his time as German Ambassador to Lebanon, he wished to hand over his credentials to a President. Huth also thanked the generous sponsors, German and Lebanese companies, who made this reception possible.
