German Ambassador Mr. Huth and a delegation from the German embassy visited the UNIFIL Headquarters in Naqoura (Lebanon). Ambassador Huth expressed his gratitude to Force Commander UNIFIL and his soldiers for the peacekeeping service at the “Blue Line”. Today 10,500 UN soldiers from more than 40 nations stand guard, both on land and at sea.
Force Commander General Beary in turn thanked the Ambassador for Germany’s contribution to the mission.
Germany supports mainly the maritime part. 121 German soldiers are serving at the moment in UNIFIL. Besides the ship “MAGDEBURG” based in LIMASSOL (Cyprus), Germans serve in the UNIFIL Headquarters and are training the Lebanese Navy.
